Here’s what you missed from Dawn Radke…
The conversation began with Dawn sharing her journey from a stay-at-home mom to becoming a realtor. She had to overcome numerous hurdles to make it happen. Despite always having a love for real estate, she never considered pursuing it as a career until her husband convinced her. As they were buying their first house, they enjoyed attending open houses and exploring the various properties. However, she always disregarded the notion of being good at real estate until her husband persisted.
After having three kids, Dawn planned on returning to work once they started school. However, her husband suggested that she should obtain a real estate license. Initially, she was afraid and had many limiting beliefs to work through. Despite the fear of failure, she decided to take the course. It ended up being her greatest breakthrough, and it transformed her life.
Next, she talked about what it’s like working in the Janesville/Rock County market in Wisconsin and its unique challenges. In November, interest rates impacted the market, and while it’s picking up again, certain homes are still on the market. Dawn then talked about the time she worked on her mentor’s team, which proved to be a valuable experience. Despite closing 14 houses in her first six months, she acknowledged that she needed leverage and business basics. She worked hard to serve her clients while also learning how to become a more effective realtor and business owner.
Kevin then asked Dawn when did she know it was time to start her team. She explained that she just felt ready to take a leap of faith and further expand her knowledge and expertise in the business. The two then talked about her attendance at the KW annual “Family Reunion” conference in California. Dawn shared that this was the first time she had attended such an event, and it left a lasting impression on her. She learned valuable lessons that were instilled in the brokerage’s code of ethics, which made her aspire to become a better person and help more people in her work as a realtor.
Following that, Dawn discussed what The Radke Real Estate Sale is all about. It is an estate sale service they offer that helps families sell belongings when a loved one has passed away or when individuals are downsizing involuntarily. The sale is for anyone with an interest in buying the family’s items.
The two then discussed one of the reasons why Dawn opt to have professional photos for all of her listings. She explained that it is because 95% of people start their buying process online. Hiring a real estate photographer to take professional photos can make a significant difference in attracting potential buyers as it highlights the best features of the property and create a better first impression than pictures taken on a phone.
The conversation wraps up with Dawn sharing that among all the occupations she’s had, working as a teacher’s aide had the biggest impact on her and the community. In middle school, children are at a pivotal point in their lives where they can either continue with the cycle of their upbringing or make the necessary changes to break free from it. This resonates with her because of her own experiences, and she believes that education is a powerful tool for shaping the future generation.
