In the meantime, here’s a summary of the conversation…

The conversation starts off with Brad asking Shaun what he wanted to be when he was little. Shaun explains that he had a variety of interests, however, law enforcement was what he was the most interested in.

He ended up pursuing law enforcement and played many different roles in the field, from asset protection to surveillance. He also spent some time exploring aviation in the form of search and rescue, however, when 9/11 happened he changed his mind.

He explains that over time, working in law enforcement started to weigh on him mentally in the form of anxiety and PTSD. He calls real estate his “saving grace” as it helped distract him from his struggles with his mental health and gave him a new career to invest himself in.

Shaun mentions that growing up his parents owned a variety of businesses which ignited his passion for sales. After spending some time around a friend who was in real estate, Shaun decided to start renovating houses since he likes handy work.

His love for real estate grew and he decided to get his real estate license.

Shaun then goes on to explain that networking and learning about the technicalities behind paperwork and contracts was the hardest part of learning real estate for him.

Brad asks Shaun if he has any advice that he was given that was helpful to him, and Shaun mentions that he was told to keep an open mind and not to be afraid of going outside of his comfort zone.

He says he would advise that others make it a priority to educate themselves on real estate as much as they can and to ask for help from mentors or friends in the field. Also, he talks about the importance of setting a firm schedule.

Lastly, Taylor asks the signature question: Is a hotdog a sandwich?

Shaun laughs and mentions that it could be, but no, he doesn’t think so since it doesn’t have deli meat.
