What is your role at WindowStill and what does a day of work typically look like for you?
At WindowStill, I work as a photographer, and my typical day involves a variety of activities. It usually starts with browsing social media, followed by office visits and occasional lunch or coffee meetings. When I have a shoot scheduled, I begin with a walkthrough of the entire home, sometimes accompanied by agents and other times on my own. I take the time to tidy up the space, paying attention to small details before setting up my camera equipment.
Once everything is ready, I systematically move through the home, ensuring I capture the best possible photos of each room and unique area. After completing the shoot, I secure the property and touch base with the realtor. Then, I return to my laptop to transfer and organize the files. This process allows me to maintain an organized workflow and deliver high-quality images to our clients.
What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?
During my free time when I’m not working, I indulge in my passion for exploring the Colorado wilderness. Hiking takes a prominent place in my interests, allowing me to immerse myself in the beauty of nature. Climbing is another activity I’m enthusiastic about, providing both a physical challenge and a unique perspective on the landscapes I encounter.
In addition to hiking and climbing, I also enjoy mining, uncovering the hidden gems that the Colorado terrain has to offer. Paddle boarding is another favorite pastime, offering a refreshing and peaceful way to connect with the water. As winter arrives, I find solace in the warmth of hot springs, creating a perfect opportunity to relax and unwind amid the snowy surroundings
What advice would you give to someone that’s new to your field and why?
For those new to my field, my advice is to cultivate patience both with yourself and others. It’s essential to recognize that the learning curve can be steep, and mastery takes time. Embrace the process of growth and don’t be discouraged by challenges. Perseverance is key in our field, so don’t give up when faced with obstacles. Keep pushing yourself to learn, adapt, and refine your skills. The journey may have its ups and downs, but the continuous pursuit of improvement will ultimately lead to success.
What do you feel is the most important quality for someone in your field and why?
In my field, I believe the most important qualities are determination and confidence. The nature of our work often involves facing rejection, whether it’s related to pricing issues or the realtor already having a dedicated photographer. Despite these setbacks, it’s crucial not to let rejection deter you. Determination is key in overcoming obstacles and persisting in your pursuit.
Moreover, confidence plays a vital role. When engaging in sales or approaching potential clients, walking into businesses with confidence is essential. Being confident allows you to convey that you offer the best services in the industry. This self-assuredness not only attracts clients but also instills trust in your abilities.
Additionally, independence and self-motivation are indispensable qualities in this field. The responsibility falls on you to proactively manage your schedule, wake up early, engage in effective marketing, and secure bookings. Being independent and self-motivated ensures that you can navigate the challenges of the industry and consistently work towards achieving your goals. In essence, determination, confidence, independence, and self-motivation collectively contribute to success in this dynamic field.
