After a successful 20-year career in financial services, Liz made the transition to real estate, seeking increased flexibility and time freedom. The inspiration for this change struck during a vacation in 2017 and solidified during pregnancy, marking a significant turning point in her professional journey.
Currently, Liz serves clients in the greater Lansing area and other parts of Michigan, focusing on the unique dynamics of the Central Michigan real estate market. Lansing, in particular, is undergoing a seller’s market with one to two months of inventory, where properly priced and well-maintained homes receive multiple offers, although there’s a slight softening compared to previous years.
Liz operates under the 80/20 Rule, acknowledging that 80% of their business comes from 20% of their clients. As the co-owner of VI Living Real Estate Group in Lansing, Michigan, Liz and her husband assist buyers and sellers in navigating the dynamic real estate market.
Liz then delves into the affordability of housing in Michigan, highlighting average home prices between $150,000 and $200,000, with some below $100,000 for investors. The state’s strong manufacturing background contributes to a diverse and attractive cultural mix, making it an appealing option for first-time homebuyers.
Liz’s expertise extends beyond conventional transactions, as she narrates instances where her financial acumen helped navigate specialized financing for challenging property sales. Additionally, her deep understanding of the probate process has proven invaluable in assisting clients dealing with sentimental estate transactions.
Recognizing the emotional aspects of real estate transactions, Liz emphasizes the importance of social awareness and emotional intelligence. Navigating deals involving multiple decision-makers and sentimental value requires a delicate touch, showcasing her commitment to understanding and addressing the unique emotional landscape of each transaction.
Liz’s knack for design and understanding what photographs well sets her apart in the industry. She describes how her unique approach to rearranging furniture and coordinating cleanings contributes to making a listing stand out in the market, emphasizing the significance of decluttering and presenting a clean, attractive space for potential buyers.
Delving into her photography listing strategy, Liz underscores the importance of curb appeal and strategic room selection. Avoiding clutter and focusing on key areas, she highlights the impact of a well-presented listing on attracting potential buyers. Sharing a memorable experience, Liz recounts a visit to a spaceship-shaped house on 20 acres, complete with a surprise encounter with a wild turkey knocking on a window inside the house.
Following that, Liz addresses the most challenging aspects of the real estate industry, emphasizing the importance of aligning seller and buyer expectations, managing negotiations, and handling difficult conversations such as low appraisals and inspection issues.
Embracing manifestation as a personal philosophy, Liz reflects on the guiding principles that motivate her in both personal and professional realms.
