Here’s what you missed from Lindsay Gorman…
Lindsay Gorman’s journey into real estate began after feeling unfulfilled in her role at Rocket Mortgage. Considering a lateral move to Bedrock, she ultimately decided to transition into real estate. Initially, Lindsay obtained her real estate license to save money for a home purchase, but she soon discovered its greater potential. A fortuitous meeting with her current broker, Na, revealed that real estate sales could be an ideal fit for her.
Living in Detroit’s Brush Park neighborhood, Lindsay is passionate about the city’s diverse architecture and walkable communities. She enjoys working with clients relocating to or within Detroit, helping them understand the unique lifestyle each neighborhood offers.
Her love for the history and character of Detroit’s historic homes, including those of famous figures like Smokey Robinson and Aretha Franklin, fuels her dedication to the city. Lindsay takes pride in challenging and changing misconceptions about Detroit, believing that visitors are often pleasantly surprised by the city’s vibrant culture and diversity.
A personal story of resilience marks Lindsay’s transition to real estate. After being fired from her previous job, she embraced the challenge of real estate, finding confidence and determination through pivotal moments and support from her broker, Na. Lindsay attributes her success to being in the right place at the right time, and she is deeply grateful for the opportunities that led her to real estate.
Detroit’s real estate market has become competitive on a national and global stage, with exciting developments over the past decade and recent months. Lindsay has worked with investors to identify opportunities in the city’s historic homes, advising on buyer preferences and helping renovate or restore properties. For instance, she has seen how one successful sale on Fiser Street influenced property values and sales across the neighborhood, setting a positive tone for other sellers and buyers.
Lindsay employs unique property marketing strategies, hosting special events like open houses with live music, DJs, and surprise elements to create memorable experiences for potential buyers. She leverages social media platforms like Instagram to showcase the city and new developments, engaging potential buyers and highlighting Detroit’s unique offerings.
Lindsay particularly enjoys working with first-time buyers, providing clear communication and support throughout the process. She is committed to understanding their needs, explaining options, and over-communicating to ensure satisfaction. This approach applies to all her clients, but she finds it especially rewarding when helping those entering the market for the first time.
A memorable client story involves helping a woman sell her condo in New Center within ten days after it had been on the market for 300 days with other brokers. This success demonstrated Lindsay’s competitive nature and ability to achieve results where others had failed. Another surprising transaction involved a client who bought a house without ever seeing it in person, highlighting the unusual and unpredictable nature of real estate.
Reflecting on her career, Lindsay wishes she had been more authentic and true to herself from the beginning to attract like-minded clients. She emphasizes the importance of admitting when she doesn’t know something, maintaining confidence while being genuine.
Lindsay initially received many leads from a mentor and through referrals but acknowledges the need to continuously seek new business due to the industry’s competitive nature. She recognizes the importance of social media as a free platform to reach a wide audience, despite not being an expert in social media marketing. Lindsay also believes in the power of print and non-digital platforms, as she recently received a call from a postcard mailing sent two years ago.
Setting goals for the year, Lindsay focuses on sales volume, purchasing real estate, and personal aspirations in travel, wellness, and fitness. She values the importance of reflecting, checking in, and measuring progress regularly. Planning a trip to the south of France with friends, Lindsay prefers spontaneity, considering flying standby with just a carry-on bag. Her passion for Paris and the Eiffel Tower is evident, as she shares pictures of the iconic landmark on her social media.
