Real Estate Photographer Spotlight: Teresa Schimke

This week under the WindowStill Spotlight, we have Teresa Schimke!

Teresa is one of our awesome real estate photographers from Lansing, Michigan serving the Okemos, Mason, Laingsburg, Williamston, Saint Johns, and Grand Ledge area. She told us about her hobbies and her tips for new photographers.

Here’s what this Michigan photographer had to say…

What is your role at WindowStill and what does a day of work typically look like for you?

I am a real estate photographer for WindowStill. Their training helped me understand every detail and expectation, setting me up for success and I value the flexibility and support the company provides.

Each morning, I receive a text with my scheduled shoots for the day. I log in to see the locations and whether I’ll be photographing or filming. Once I arrive at the property, I ensure it’s prepared by turning on lights, opening curtains, and making sure everything is photo-ready.

After shooting, I upload the images to the system for the editing team, who work their magic to deliver the final product by the next day. It’s a smooth, efficient process, and I’m proud to be part of it.

What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?

Outside of work, I love running, playing golf and tennis, reading, and taking photos of anything that inspires me.

I also volunteer as a Wish Granter for Make-A-Wish Michigan, helping host events and bring joy to others. Life is short, so I try to live each day fully, like I’m already retired. My work feels like an extension of my hobbies, and I’m grateful to have created a career around the things I love.

After 18 years as a hairstylist, building amazing relationships, I’m excited to foster new connections in the real estate world.

What advice would you give to someone that’s new to your field and why?

Be open to learning.

At WindowStill, we embrace new technology, and staying current is essential. Also, be prepared for anything when entering a house. The most important advice is to treat every property as if it were your own—set high standards, be proud of your work, and believe in your ability to meet those standards.

What do you feel is the most important quality for someone in your field and why?

Courtesy and consistency are key in most careers.

Knowing how to communicate effectively with homeowners and realtors, and making them feel comfortable, goes a long way. Being consistent in your work demonstrates that you care not only about their success but about your own.
