Here’s what you missed from Liza DiMarco…

Lisa’s entry into real estate began as a practical choice, born out of necessity. As a single mother raising her sons, she initially viewed real estate as a temporary solution. Reflecting on her early days, she shared, “I was a single mom… looking for some properties.” Encouraged by a real estate agent to explore the industry, she decided to transition from her previous careers in the restaurant business and performing arts.

The demands of those industries, both financially and time-wise, had become increasingly difficult to balance with her responsibilities as a parent. Real estate offered flexibility that aligned with her priorities. “Oh, yeah, that sounds great,” she recalls thinking about her decision to dive into the field.

At first, real estate was not Lisa’s passion, but her relentless work ethic set her apart. “I did very well, ’cause I worked my tail off,” she explained. Initially resistant to outside guidance, Lisa hesitated to embrace coaching or professional help. Over time, however, she recognized the value of continuous learning and adaptation. “The more you do something, the more you get kind of enthralled,” she reflected, acknowledging how experience deepened her commitment to the field.

Lisa’s career path involved several relocations, each bringing new challenges and opportunities. Starting in New York, she later moved to Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and eventually Savannah. Each move sharpened her skills and resilience. Reflecting on the early days of her career, she noted the absence of modern technology. “When I started, we didn’t have technology,” she shared, highlighting the dramatic changes she has witnessed in the industry. Despite these challenges, Lisa’s ability to adapt kept her engaged. “There’s always something to keep me occupied,” she said.

Lisa attributes much of her success to learning from others and forming strong client connections. “If somebody’s going to be successful… they look at others who have been successful,” she noted. With the support of coaches and seminars, she honed her skills and built lasting relationships with clients, treating them like family. “My clients become friends… I treat them like family,” she shared, emphasizing the personal bond she fosters with each client. She goes above and beyond, regularly checking in after they move in and offering recommendations for local services. Her care extends to supporting clients through life’s challenges, ensuring they always feel supported.

Lisa has developed a reputation as an expert in relocations, collaborating with local agents to ease the transition for her clients. “I think that all agents aren’t created equally,” she said, emphasizing the importance of agility and intuition in meeting client needs. Her focus remains on understanding each client’s unique situation and finding properties that align perfectly with their goals.

Continuously seeking growth, Lisa trained with Tony Robbins’ Platinum Partners program and embraced activities like meditation and poker to enhance her decision-making skills. She believes adaptability and critical thinking are crucial, stating, “Years in the business doesn’t translate into a really good experience.” She also critiques the limitations of traditional continuing education courses, advocating for more meaningful professional development.

Lisa prides herself on providing steady guidance for her clients, especially during stressful situations. “I try to keep my clients steady and calm,” she said, often working behind the scenes to resolve issues without burdening them. Her tailored solutions have helped clients overcome obstacles, including urgent situations where previous agents had failed. “It’s just so rewarding when people find themselves in a bind and I can help,” she reflected.

Navigating challenges, Lisa highlighted the benefits of concierge programs like Compass, which provide financial assistance for staging and other pre-sale preparations. Sharing an example, she recounted a successful transaction completed under tight deadlines: “We will front the money, and we will get these things done.” Her advice for aspiring agents is clear: learn from the best. “Get involved with the best agent you can, and train with them,” she advised, emphasizing the importance of treating real estate as both a career and a business.

For first-time buyers, Lisa recommends conducting financial assessments and interviewing multiple agents to find the right fit. “Do not take the first agent you encounter,” she cautioned. A skilled agent, she explained, can provide essential protection and guidance throughout the process.

Reflecting on the year ahead, Lisa is optimistic about the real estate market, despite uncertainties surrounding upcoming elections. “I think that, you know, could be a very exciting year for real estate,” she shared. Her optimism is grounded in her belief that people will continue to buy, sell, and invest regardless of external noise. Through her journey, Lisa has demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to her clients, making her a trusted expert in the ever-evolving world of real estate.
