Real Estate Photographer Spotlight: Sean Schultz

This week under the WindowStill Spotlight, we have Sean Schultz!

Sean is one of our awesome photographers in Seattle, WA. He shared what his daily routine usually looks like and a piece of advice he’d give to someone new to the field.

Here’s what he had to say…

What is your role at WindowStill and what does a day of work typically look like for you?

I work as a Real Estate Photographer for Windowstill. I’m still in the early phases of my Real Estate Photography career with Windowstill. My days are usually very busy. Either that or I’m working on a business project. When I’m not working on something for my business, I usually try to find clients for Windowstill. I would message a lot of Realtors and inform them about the amazing services Windowstill offers. When it comes to my work with Windowstill, I believe the most difficult aspect is marketing. Doing the photos is a bonus because I am fascinated by photography. I have yet to get any Realtor clients. But I hope to in the near future.

What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?

I like to keep working. Sounds depressing but t I enjoy working. When I say “work,” I mean that I continue to take photos and make videos. I really love doing this. My passion for the arts is unrivaled. However, I am not a total workaholic. I do enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and girlfriend as well.

What advice would you give to someone that’s new to your field and why?

“Be persistent,” is the best advice I would give. Nothing is easy, especially in our field. It is really competitive, so you will have a lot to compete with. But don’t let that deter you. That should motivate you to work even harder and rise above your competitors. From all of my jobs and start-ups that I’ve tried. They are always referring to “competition or competitors.” But I never listen. Because there is always competition in everything. That should get you fired up! Knowing that others are doing what you are doing and that you must compete with them to win. That sounds like a lot of fun to me! Because if it was just easy, there would be gratification in what you worked for.

What do you feel is the most important quality for someone in your field and why?

The best trait is simply having a strong work ethic. I know that sounds cliche. But I really mean it. There are three things that are necessary for this job. Marketing, completing the actual work and providing outstanding customer service This job can be physically and mentally draining. Getting “no’s” from realtors who reject your services on a daily basis to having to execute photography and making sure you meet the needs of the customer while they have a good time with you. It can be really draining. But all you have to do is keep pushing and working hard. Because if you go through that, you’ll find that this is a really rewarding field!
