Here’s what you missed from Carla Ng…

Carla was initially set to feature one of her listings on House Hunters, but when her sellers declined, she was offered her own episode. She patiently waited six months to find the perfect buyers, her friends Sunny and Tony, who were willing to be on the show. Throughout the filming process, Carla learned the nuances of being on television, such as avoiding eye contact with the camera and steering clear of specific phrases. The production spanned five full days to create approximately 20 minutes of airtime. Being on the show has bolstered Carla’s credibility and provided an excellent conversation starter with prospective clients.

She entered the real estate industry during the pandemic, initially as a side hustle from her sales and marketing position. With a background as a CPA, she believed real estate would blend her people and business skills seamlessly. This venture quickly evolved into a full-blown career, fulfilling her passion for helping people achieve homeownership. Carla developed thick skin through the challenges of cold calling and facing verbal abuse. Selling in the Silicon Valley area presented a unique mix of California farm life and vibrant city living.

Next, she talked about Silicon Valley being a dynamic market, home to tech giants like Apple, Google, and Nvidia. The diverse community offers various activities and cultural experiences. The pandemic initially prompted remote work, but with businesses now requiring employees to return, traffic has increased. While Silicon Valley’s beauty, culture, and activities are pros, the traffic can be a downside.

Carla then shares how ensures her clients feel supported and well-informed throughout the home buying and selling process. She focuses on understanding their needs and keeping them updated at every step. Carla views herself as a partner, handling negotiations, paperwork, and recommending vendors, ensuring clients feel confident and supported.

Following that, Carla shared an early career success story where teamwork and mentorship were crucial in closing a challenging deal. This experience underscored the importance of seeking help and support, especially for new agents. Carla advises new agents to seek guidance from mentors, managers, and coaches within their real estate office. Utilizing mentorship and coaching programs, and having a strong support system, is vital for success.

Carla also discusses ideas with partners, mentors, and lenders to determine beneficial strategies for her business. Being on a team or having a coach helps overcome the solo aspects of a real estate career.

The power of video marketing and the importance of human connection, especially during the pandemic, have been key lessons for Carla. Video marketing has been an effective tool for establishing a human connection with clients. Carla uses personalized video emails with BombBomb software to make follow-up emails more memorable, helping her stand out among competitors.

Next, Carla addresses common real estate myths, such as misconceptions about down payments and the myth of overpricing homes. She discussed the challenges in the current real estate market, including low inventory in the Bay Area and higher interest rates impacting buyer enthusiasm.

Carla provides guidance for those waiting for interest rates to drop, noting the unlikelihood of rates returning to previous levels and suggesting considering current life circumstances for moving. When it comes to her goals for the year, Carla shares that she has achieved her goal of elevating her brand on YouTube, utilizing YouTube shorts and green screens for engaging content. She successfully expanded her client base and housing farm.

The conversation concluded with Carla sharing how she celebrated closing her biggest deal yet and aimed to establish her brand as a dynamic husband and wife team. She is excited about the opportunities this partnership brings and looks forward to seeing how much more they can accomplish together.
