EPISODE 5: YESMEEN ABDULLATIF

On this episode of The Brad and Taylor Show, we have Yesmeen Abdullatif of Social House Group!

She shared her start in real estate with us as well as her start with Social House Group. Watch the episode on YouTube down below, or listen to it on Apple Podcasts. If you’re short on time, we’ve included a summary of the conversation below!

The conversation starts with Taylor bringing up the podcast episode with Erik Wright where he mentioned that he had to ask Yesmeen over and over to join the team before she did.

Yesmeen laughs before explaining that it took around a year of Erik asking for her to finally decide to join Social House Group. She starts from the beginning, explaining that she met Erik when she was working with a VIP client who was looking at one of his listings. She jokes that pretty much anything that could go wrong during the deal did, however, she and Erik kept their composure to make sure the deal went through.

She talks about not wanting to join Erik at first because she had a job leading a team of 20-30 agents with great benefits and a good salary. After sitting down with Erik and hearing his pitch, she decided to take the leap and join Social House Group.

Brad switches gears and asks Yesmeen what she wanted to be when she was young. Yesmeen says that she really wanted to be a veterinarian, but changed her mind when she had to witness a dog being euthanized during her field experience. After this traumatizing experience, she wanted to work as a realtor since the negative parts of the job are much less serious.

She goes on to explain that she got into real estate in the form of clerical work right out of high school. She decided to get her license and learned that she had a passion for leading others and coaching.

Taylor asks what Yesmeen’s most memorable experience as a realtor has been, to which Yesmeen begins telling a story about a family that she worked with in the beginning. She explains that she worked with a family that included a son with autism. Since she didn’t have much experience with people with special needs, she said this was a great learning experience for her since she spent so much time with the family.

Since this experience, she notes that she’s worked with a diverse range of clients, however, at the time this was completely new for her.

Next, Brad asks what Yesmeen’s favorite part of Social House is. Yesmeen answers that she loves the freedom and flexibility of the job, marketing, and the team she gets to work with. She also explains that they don’t currently have a plan for recruiting new team members, as they’ve had some great additions come to them looking to join the team.

Brad asks what her favorite marketing tool is, and Yesmeen explains that she loves social media for marketing, specifically Facebook. She says that she’s been getting into TikTok more as well.

Brad asks what her favorite place to travel is and Yesmeen mentions that she went to Iceland once and loved it. She talks about it getting dark there around 3 PM and she was amazed by how kind the locals were even with such a lack of daylight.

Taylor then asks what advice Yesmeen would give to new agents, to which Yesmeen answers that they need to remember that real estate isn’t a get-rich-quick-scheme and that it takes time to build up a client base. She mentions that many agents fail as a result of being on their own and having a lack of discipline since they typically don’t have a boss telling them when to work.

At first, Yesmeen struggled with this freedom, however, she started adjusting by getting up earlier and setting a stricter schedule for when she’s doing work behind the scenes and when she talks with clients.

Lastly, Taylor asks Yesmeen who she would be if she could be any Disney princess for a day. Yesmeen says she would be Mulan, because of her bravery and determination.
