Here’s what you missed from Claudia Chueca-Ramos…
Claudia’s journey began in Peru, where she worked at a bank while attending college. After marrying her longtime boyfriend, she moved to the United States, but when the marriage ended, Claudia faced significant challenges. Starting over as a single mother raising her daughter, she took her first job in the U.S. at Burger King. Despite the hurdles, a mentor’s encouragement led her to join the Army, where she served for four years, a period she describes as a valuable and rewarding experience.
During her time in the Army, Claudia was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. As she searched for her first solo rental, she met a realtor who piqued her interest in home ownership. This encounter ignited Claudia’s passion for real estate. She dove into research, became deeply invested in learning, and partnered with a realtor to start exploring properties. This was the beginning of her real estate journey, one that would shape her future career.
Claudia’s first major step came when she purchased her own home using a VA loan, a benefit she believes many people overlook. Her early experiences in real estate weren’t without setbacks. Partnering with someone on her first deal, she encountered losses, but this only reinforced her belief that real estate is a learning experience. Despite the challenges, Claudia remained committed and continued pursuing new opportunities in the market.
Throughout her journey, Claudia learned key lessons. She realized the importance of networking, gaining access to contractors, and understanding the paperwork involved in qualifying for loans. One of her biggest takeaways: “You make your money when you buy the house,” a principle she has followed in acquiring properties at the best possible price. This strategy allows room for error and greater potential for profit.
For those starting in real estate, Claudia emphasizes avoiding forced deals and sticking to sound financial principles. She advises beginning with manageable projects and steering clear of complex renovations until gaining more experience. “Start with light or medium complex rehabs,” she suggests, ensuring the foundation for long-term success.
Funding deals was another challenge she tackled head-on. Claudia explored options like hard money lenders for short-term projects and private money lenders, often reaching out to individuals with excess savings and offering them competitive returns. She highlights that there’s money out there if investors are willing to seek it.
Claudia also underscores the importance of community engagement, urging others to be visible and communicate their work. By sharing her results, she has attracted more connections and expanded her network. Stepping out of her comfort zone to engage in meetups and real estate events has been critical to her growth.
As Claudia’s real estate career evolved, she became committed to bringing value to her community. Improving neighborhoods, providing employment to contractors, and helping individuals in difficult situations sell their properties are all part of her mission. Her passion for design also shines through in her work, as she focuses on creating warm, inviting spaces that consistently receive praise from friends and family.
Determined and driven, Claudia continues to fantasize about her next project, believing in the power of manifestation to achieve her goals. She balances her responsibilities one day at a time, supported by reliable contractors and a strong support system. While managing the demands of her career and family can be tough, she remains committed to succeeding in real estate.
As she reflects on her journey, Claudia dispels myths about house flipping, reminding others that real estate investment doesn’t require vast amounts of money upfront. With the right strategies and financing options, it’s possible to thrive in the market. Though the current real estate market presents challenges, with rising interest rates and fewer deals, Claudia adapts by marketing herself and finding new ways to connect with potential sellers.
Looking ahead, Claudia continues to hustle, pushing herself outside her comfort zone and engaging more with social media to inspire and educate others. Her goals remain ambitious as she works on her projects and embraces the courage required to share her journey with the world. Ultimately, Claudia believes in taking action, facing fears, and making things happen—a mindset that has guided her toward success in both her personal and professional life.
