Here’s what you missed from Nimesh Patel…
The conversation began with a fill-in-the-blank icebreaker on what would make the real estate industry better, what the market is mostly affected by, and more. Nimesh, beyond his real estate career, cherishes spending time with loved ones, valuing every minute he gets with friends and family amidst his busy business schedule.
Geographically, Nimesh serves the Plymouth, Canton, South Lyon, and Ann Arbor areas, all of which boast vibrant downtowns with numerous attractions, restaurants, and parks, making them appealing to potential buyers.
Nimesh then shared that his true calling in real estate came after facing a pivotal moment in his life. Witnessing his parents’ struggles, especially when his mother could no longer work and his father faced financial challenges, Nimesh realized he needed to take control of his destiny. This realization led him to venture into real estate, stepping out of his comfort zone. Now, his passion lies in meeting families, understanding their needs, and helping them achieve their goals. This shift in mindset has not only brought fulfillment to Nimesh’s life but also empowered him to positively impact his community.
Nimesh’s diverse background in various occupations has proven valuable in his role as a realtor. Initially training to be a physical therapist, he later transitioned to corporate work, honing essential communication skills that now serve him well in his current profession. Nimesh’s work ethic, cultivated from his early days at McDonald’s, has also played a crucial role in his success, as he has climbed the ladder and excelled in every position he’s held.
With a passion for sports, Nimesh seamlessly integrates his deep knowledge and love for athletics into his real estate business. Recognizing that many clients share his enthusiasm for sports, he draws parallels between sports and the competitive nature of the real estate industry. He approaches each transaction strategically and creatively, using his sports-oriented mindset to navigate challenges and achieve success. This shared interest in sports has allowed him to build strong connections with clients, attending games together and supporting their children’s athletic endeavors, further solidifying their relationships.
Even in situations of intense disagreement with opposing agents, Nimesh maintains a resolution-oriented approach. He recounts a specific instance where a transaction in Detroit encountered appraisal discrepancies, leading to heated exchanges with the seller’s agent. Despite the challenges and weeks of back and forth, Nimesh and his team persevered, eventually finding a middle ground that satisfied all parties involved. The successful resolution not only pleased his client but also earned a commendation from the opposing agent for Nimesh’s patience and dedication to closing the deal.
In Nimesh’s opinion, the most challenging aspect of the real estate industry is finding consistency. While being your own boss and setting your schedule can be appealing, building a successful business in real estate requires forming habits and routines that promote growth and a steady pipeline of clients. The early years in the industry play a crucial role in shaping one’s future career trajectory.
Recalling a recent workday, Nimesh describes a busy schedule that starts at 6 am with email catch-up and reading, followed by a visit to the gym before heading to the office. Prospecting is a priority in the morning, and the team holds huddles to share ideas and support one another. The rest of the day is filled with showings, inspections, and occasional trainings, leaving little time for lunch until late afternoon. Nimesh works to improve efficiency, striving for a balanced lifestyle.
The conversation wraps up with Nimesh reflecting on his journey, and how he has learned the importance of communication in the fast-paced real estate business. He emphasizes the value of articulating information clearly and taking the time to slow down and ensure clients have a clear understanding. Consistency and structure have been key factors in his success and longevity in the industry. Leading by example, Nimesh demonstrates the importance of practicing what he preaches to his team.
