Here’s what you missed from Carlos Turner…
The conversation began with Carlos sharing his story, from Prison to Paradise, proving that no matter how far you fall, you can always rise again. He believes that success is more than and cannot be measured in monetary terms, but rather in looking in the mirror and being happy. He felt lighter after sharing his story because he was able to embrace that part of his life and inspire many people to live their truths.
What he wants people to take away from his story is the great power that comes with vulnerability. You must be vulnerable in order to be truly yourself and walk on your purpose what surprised him the most was the number of phone calls he received. He received a lot of support, people sharing their stories and their truths.
He then discussed his search for a realtor when he wanted to buy a house. He looked for a top-producing agent to work with, but the realtors he met were only interested in making a sale and didn’t care to talk to them about what they wanted. Because he works in the food and beverage industry, he knows the value of customer service, which many of the realtors he met lacked when it was likely a client’s biggest investment. He then dug deep into Google reviews and discovered a realtor couple they eventually worked with, who also influenced him to become a realtor in 2016.
When asked what the most valuable lesson he learned so far is, he believes that you have to be honest to your clients even when it’s bad news. When it comes to things to look for when touring a party, Carlos believes you have to first understand your wants before looking into houses. it’s also important to have a conversation with your agent about the what-ifs and compromises you’re willing to make. he also shares how he advises his clients to drive around the area and drive in the driveway because there’ll be a feeling. Putting them in the right headspace is key and you can see it in their reactions when they enter different parts of the home.
Next, Carlos shares some tips for selling a home and how you can get the best possible price emphasizing the importance of starting early. Talk to a reputable local realtor and start preparing as soon as you decide to sell because yesterday’s price is not today’s price. He also discusses how the market has changed over time, with abandoned buildings he’s seen in the past now selling their 800-square-foot units for up to $300,000 each.
The two then talked about home inspections and how he always recommends them to his clients because it is his job to provide all of the facts so that his clients can make the best decision possible. If his clients choose to waive it, they must be aware of the consequences. They also discussed how, due to increased demand, more properties are selling above the listing price. Carlos believes that most houses will definitely rise in value, but that with spring approaching, there will likely be sellers preparing to sell, balancing the market.
The conversation wraps up with Carlos sharing the book he produced that promotes financial literacy for children. He also discussed how U4U assists people in uniform in purchasing a new home because they believe they can do something they can’t, so they decided to find a way to give back.
