Here’s what you missed from Dominique Spaur…
The conversation began with Dominique sharing her life outside of real estate.. She is a devoted wife and mother, and her recent journey into homeschooling has been a significant part of her life. This transition to homeschooling has brought about considerable changes in her daily routine. When she’s not immersed in educating her children, Dominique and her family enjoy traveling. In fact, they recently acquired 150 acres of land in Tennessee, which has added another layer of excitement to her life. Furthermore, Dominique has recently obtained her real estate license in Tennessee, reflecting the ongoing transformation in her life.
Dominique’s background is marked by diverse experiences. In 2018, she became a licensed real estate agent. However, before entering the world of real estate, she earned a master’s degree in education and worked as a teacher, specializing in early childhood education. Balancing the demands of teaching kindergarteners with raising her own two sons was challenging. Her father was already a licensed real estate agent at that time, and she began exploring alternative career paths. Encouraged by her husband, she took the leap into the world of real estate, a decision she never anticipated but has since thrived in. Her journey in real estate started alongside her father, and she hasn’t looked back since. Over the years, she has worked with a diverse range of clients, from business owners to first-time homebuyers, forging a strong identity within the industry.
Dominique’s primary market covers the northern region of Brevard County, a notably extensive county. Situated approximately an hour east of Orlando, her service area includes Palm Bay and a variety of attractions such as Disney and Universal Studios. The proximity to these renowned landmarks, as well as numerous beaches and entertainment options, adds an exciting dimension to the real estate market in this region.
Dominique’s journey to becoming a realtor is marked by a series of valuable experiences from her past occupations. For a decade, starting from her junior year in high school, her parents owned a chain restaurant, specifically a sports bar. This role as a server allowed her to cultivate essential people skills that have proven invaluable in her career as a realtor. Developing these interpersonal skills has been instrumental in her ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders in the real estate industry.
Following her time in the restaurant business, Dominique transitioned into the field of education, where she worked as a teacher for a significant period. Her teaching career endowed her with a set of skills that seamlessly translated into her role as a real estate agent. These skills include the ability to educate clients effectively, adapt to their unique needs, and communicate with people from various backgrounds. Her experience as an educator serves as a strong foundation for her role in guiding and advising clients throughout their real estate journeys.
Living in North Brevard County has given Dominique a deep connection to the area and a wealth of local knowledge that proves invaluable in her real estate endeavors. One memorable experience that highlights the advantages of her community familiarity and understanding of the housing market involves a client looking to upgrade their living situation. Initially, they were touring various homes in North Brevard County, searching for the perfect property to accommodate their growing family. At that time, Dominique’s own house was about to hit the market, and although the client was initially hesitant, she encouraged them to explore the neighborhood. Her insight into the location’s family-friendly environment struck a chord with the client, ultimately leading them to fall in love with her home and purchase it.
Next, Dominique emphasizes her approach to real estate transactions as one of collaboration rather than competition. She believes in working as a team to reach the common goal of closing deals successfully. While disagreements can occasionally arise, her philosophy is to address them constructively for the benefit of all parties involved. She recalls a situation where miscommunication threatened the smooth progression of a transaction. In such cases, Dominique believes in open and honest communication to resolve any issues and ensure the deal moves forward smoothly. Her dedication to problem-solving and maintaining a positive working relationship with opposing agents has proven to be a successful approach in her real estate career.
Hosting events and actively engaging in community initiatives are powerful ways to establish connections and foster relationships. Dominique exemplifies this approach by sharing her involvement in organizing and participating in various events that have not only deepened her ties with the community but have also significantly impacted her real estate business.
Dominique regularly hosts four distinct events throughout the year: an Easter egg hunt, a backpack drive, a trick-or-treat gathering, and a delightful “Donuts with Santa” affair. Her journey in event hosting had its share of challenges. In the early stages, her first event saw only one family in attendance, and the second coincided with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, posing additional hurdles.
However, her perseverance paid off, with the third event drawing an impressive crowd of approximately 3000 people. This serves as a poignant reminder that persistence in pursuing one’s beliefs can yield substantial rewards. By actively participating in these community events, Dominique effectively expanded her reach and name recognition, surpassing what she could have achieved through her regular real estate activities alone. The result has been a substantial boost to her real estate business, showcasing the tangible benefits of community involvement.
The real estate industry presents its own unique set of challenges, and Dominique reflects on her early experiences to highlight a significant hurdle she faced. At the outset of her career, she grappled with the perception that the industry was oversaturated, with thousands of realtors vying for clients in Brevard County. The concern of how to stand out and gain the trust of potential clients weighed heavily on her mind.
As she shares her recent licensure in Tennessee, it is evident that these concerns continue to resurface. However, Dominique’s journey in Brevard County serves as a testament to her ability to overcome this challenge. Her active involvement in the community, dedication to her clients, and resilience in the face of competition have allowed her to carve out a successful career. While the challenges persist, Dominique’s experiences underscore the importance of determination and a commitment to building meaningful connections in the real estate industry, which have undoubtedly contributed to her continued success.
Achieving top sales and recognition in the real estate industry is a pursuit that demands unwavering dedication and a wealth of expertise. To illustrate the challenges and the valuable skills and experience she brings to the table, Dominique shares a story of a particularly demanding transaction.
Throughout her real estate career, Dominique emphasizes that she has yet to encounter a transaction that unfolded seamlessly from start to finish. Invariably, unforeseen issues or complications arise, reinforcing the importance of having experienced agents on both ends of the deal and collaborating effectively as a team. She acknowledges that, at times, clients can become understandably anxious or even aggressive when faced with unexpected hurdles. In such situations, Dominique underscores the significance of exercising patience. She also highlights the crucial role of trust in the agent-client relationship, as clients have chosen their agents for their expertise. Trusting in the agent’s knowledge and capabilities can help navigate the complexities of real estate transactions more effectively.
The conversation wraps up with Dominique responding to the question of inspiration, she shares a profound influence from a biblical verse, Jeremiah 29:11. This verse holds a special place in her heart because it encapsulates the essence of her journey in real estate. Real estate, like life itself, is characterized by its cyclical nature, with ups and downs. Jeremiah 29:11 offers a comforting reminder that even in the face of challenges, there is a plan, and it is one that intends not to harm but to prosper. It instills the belief that with dedication and hard work, there is a brighter future ahead. In essence, Dominique draws inspiration from the idea that, by persevering and staying committed to her goals, success will ultimately be realized, guided by a higher plan. This perspective is a source of strength and motivation both personally and professionally, reinforcing her unwavering resolve in the world of real estate.
