Here’s what you missed from Kayla Strait…
Kayla had long considered a career in real estate, reflecting on the idea for several years while working in customer service. Her entrepreneurial mindset, combined with a natural interest in houses, eventually led her to pursue the profession. Kayla’s exposure to real estate came early, attending property showings with a family member who worked as an agent. Friends in the industry further influenced her decision to take the leap.
Kayla credits much of her success to the guidance of her mentor, whose advice to “never give up” has helped her stay focused. Many new agents feel overwhelmed during the initial stages of their career, but Kayla emphasizes the importance of perseverance. Her mentor’s support has played a critical role in keeping her motivated and focused on long-term goals.
Currently, Kayla focuses on working with buyers, paying close attention to their specific needs, financial situation, and job status. She believes in building strong rapport with clients by understanding their lifestyle and ensuring they feel comfortable throughout the buying process. Her priority is to create a positive, trusting environment where clients feel supported in making major decisions.
Kayla acknowledges the difficulties buyers face in today’s competitive market, from limited inventory to intense competition. She stresses the importance of clear and consistent communication, particularly in multiple-offer situations, where being available for clients can make a significant difference.
Reflecting on her first real estate transaction, Kayla recalls helping a client lease a property in Warren. The experience allowed her to assist the client in personalizing the space, marking the beginning of many successful transactions. This experience solidified her belief in providing genuine care and attention to clients.
One of the most valuable lessons Kayla has learned is that clients’ best interests should always come first. Real estate is not just about buying and selling properties; it’s about building relationships and maintaining trust. She also touches on the challenges of being her own boss, a role that requires strong organization and responsibility.
Kayla relies on her calendar to manage her workflow and balance client demands. She views her schedule as dictated by her clients’ needs, making herself available at all hours if necessary. Being a full-time agent helps her avoid missed opportunities, as she remains flexible to accommodate client requests, even late at night.
Her entrepreneurial spirit has fostered independence and a strong work ethic. She recalls her time in customer service, where she developed the mindset that “if I’m not working, nothing’s happening.” This attitude has been essential in maintaining her momentum as an agent. Kayla also discusses how interest rates remain a key challenge in the current market, with many buyers hesitating, hoping for rates to drop. Kayla encourages clients to consider their personal needs, explaining that waiting might not always be the best decision.
Kayla often encounters misconceptions about real estate, such as the belief that market conditions alone dictate when to buy. She emphasizes the importance of pre-approval in determining affordability and advises clients that even in a seller’s market, there can be great opportunities. One of Kayla’s favorite experiences was helping her fiancé’s cousin find a property. The process went smoothly, and working with family made the experience even more enjoyable. These personal connections make her work all the more fulfilling.
Looking ahead, Kayla aims to expand her work with sellers and continue educating herself on the selling side, with the support of her mentor. With the holidays approaching, she’s optimistic about the year ahead and the opportunities it will bring.
