Here’s what you missed from Laura Mehall…

Trust is at the heart of any real estate transaction, and for Laura Mehall, this is especially true. As a real estate agent with Social House Group in Southeast Michigan, she emphasizes the importance of building trust with her clients. “You need to find someone who you trust,” she often tells first-time buyers, understanding that purchasing a home is one of the biggest decisions of their lives. Feeling comfortable with the person guiding them through this process is essential for a smooth and successful experience.

Laura’s path to becoming a real estate agent began unexpectedly. Initially working in social media for a brokerage, she found herself falling in love with the industry. “I fell in love with it, and honestly, I got my license from there,” she recalls. What initially attracted her was not just the business itself but the variety of homes she encountered. “Seeing different houses, any price range—it excites me. When I find a house I really love, I make it my next goal,” Laura explains. The joy she sees on clients’ faces when they find their dream home is what truly drives her passion for real estate. “It’s so fulfilling,” she adds.

For Laura, social media isn’t just a tool; it’s a cornerstone of her business. “Probably 80% of my business comes from social media,” she says. Staying active and present on platforms is crucial to her success. “If I’m not active, people notice,” she points out, acknowledging that maintaining a consistent online presence helps keep her brand top of mind for potential clients. Her daily routine often includes planning, recording, and editing content to ensure she always has fresh material. “I have tons of videos and folders to pull from whenever I need something,” she says, showing how dedicated she is to content creation.

Laura emphasizes the importance of posting regularly and engaging with her audience through stories. “Stories are where most of my engagement is,” she notes, explaining that they offer a more unfiltered, personal glimpse into her daily life. “Stories are for nurturing existing relationships, while posts help me reach new audiences,” she explains, drawing a clear line between the roles each form of content plays in her strategy.

Next, video content has become increasingly important in real estate marketing, and Laura has embraced this trend. “When you actually see a house in motion, it’s so different from just looking at photos,” she says. While professional photographers often handle real estate videos, she also creates personal b-roll to add a more intimate touch. Videos, she believes, provide a more engaging and immersive experience for potential buyers.

When meeting new clients, especially those from social media, Laura knows that establishing a personal connection is key. “I give them a brief overview of who I am,” she shares, always ensuring she comes prepared with a packet of information to address any questions. Trust is paramount in these meetings, as she understands that buying a home is a significant milestone. For first-time buyers, her advice is simple: “Ask questions and make sure your agent is a good fit for you.” Compatibility between client and agent is crucial to avoiding potential regrets down the road.

Laura has faced her share of challenges in the real estate world. She recalls her first transaction as particularly stressful: “It was not enjoyable for anyone involved.” However, these experiences have only strengthened her understanding of the industry. When selling her own home, Laura learned the importance of emotional connections and how they can influence the selling process. “You don’t want to take a deal just to take a deal,” she reflects, stressing the importance of compatibility and communication in any real estate transaction.

To manage the fast-paced world of real estate, Laura relies on her organizational skills. “Google Calendar is my best friend,” she admits, explaining how she color-codes her tasks to stay on top of everything. While she maintains flexibility in her schedule, having a system helps her stay prepared. “If something minor comes up, I have an archive of things ready to go,” she says, always ready to adapt as needed.

Looking back on her career, Laura understands that finding the right brokerage is as important as finding the right clients. “You’re interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you,” she advises, highlighting that it’s okay to change brokerages if things don’t feel right. Real estate, she knows, is often misrepresented on TV shows. “They make it look easy, but it’s not,” she says, emphasizing the hard work and stress that come with the job.

Despite the fluctuating market rates and the challenges that come with them, Laura remains focused on helping her clients. “I want to help you find a home,” she says, making it clear that her priority is client satisfaction, not just making a sale. Over time, many of her clients have become close friends, and this trust-based relationship is what sets her apart in the industry.

As Laura looks toward the future, her goals remain fluid, adapting to market conditions and personal milestones. She’s excited to enjoy her new home and spend quality time with her family, especially as the holidays approach. Balancing personal and professional life is key to her continued success, and she looks forward to what the future holds for both her career and her personal life.
