This week under the WindowStill Spotlight, we have Angelina Elido!
Angelina is one of our awesome photographers in Honolulu, covering the entire state of Hawaii. She shared what she likes to do in her free time and a piece of advice she’d give to new photographers.
Keep reading to see what she has to say…
What is your role at WindowStill and what does a day of work typically look like for you?
I work as a photographer at WindowStill, and my day-to-day is pretty varied. Some days, I’m out taking pictures in town or on other islands. On others, I meet with realtors over coffee to discuss potential collaborations. I also spend time continuing my education and practicing new shots for different services. It’s a mix of shooting, meetings, and learning every day.
What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?
In my free time, when I’m not working, I enjoy an assortment of activities. I love surfing, hiking, and freediving, as well as scuba diving and spearfishing. Backpacking and camping also top my list of outdoor pursuits.
On quieter days, I engage in reading, writing, and editing photos and videos for my personal accounts. Additionally, I find joy in watching movies, experimenting with cooking, creating art, and cherishing moments spent with loved ones. My leisure time is a mix of outdoor adventures, creative endeavors, and quality time with family and friends.
What advice would you give to someone that’s new to your field and why?
For newcomers in my field, my advice is simple: go for it!
Keep learning and persist through challenges. Consider aligning yourself with a reputable company, such as WindowStill, to gain a solid foundation and insights into the workings of a well-established operation. The photography industry offers numerous paths for exploration, so shoot as much as you can and build a strong network—this will open doors to various opportunities.
Along the way, identify your preferences, learn from both successes and failures, and steadily refine your path. Every lesson and experience bring you closer to your goals, so enjoy the journey and ensure that you’re having fun along the way!
What do you feel is the most important quality for someone in your field and why?
In my opinion, one of the most crucial qualities for individuals in media, particularly for real estate photographers, is a strong attention to detail.
This quality is important because of the multitude of small elements that require careful consideration in this field. From framing the shot to ensuring vertical alignment and presenting a clean, well-organized space—these details matter significantly. Moreover, this attention to detail extends beyond the actual photography work and applies to effective communication with clients and team members. Clear and precise communication ensures that everyone involved shares the same vision for the shoot, allowing us to translate that vision into our work as accurately as possible.
