Real Estate Photographer Spotlight: Chelise Simmons

This week under the WindowStill Spotlight, we have Chelise Simmons!

Chelise is one of our awesome photographers from Meritt Island, Florida, covering areas from Space Coast to east Orange County. She shared what her typical work day look like and what she loves to do on her free time.

Here’s what she had to say…

What is your role at WindowStill and what does a day of work typically look like for you?

As a real estate photographer at WindowStill, my days are dynamic and full of variety. Some days, I’m heading out to photograph homes to help realtors showcase their listings. Other times, I’m building connections through social media or even stopping by an open house to personally say hello.

When I have a shoot scheduled, my day starts with preparation. I make sure my SD cards are formatted, camera batteries are fully charged, settings are dialed in, and my tripod is packed and ready. If multiple shoots are lined up, I plan ahead by packing snacks and extra water to stay fueled and save time between locations.

Being punctual is important to me, so I always aim to arrive early, fully prepared and ready to capture the property at its best. Each day brings something new, but the focus is always on delivering high-quality results and building strong relationships.

What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?

I love photographing nature, so I often take drives to look for birds, wildlife, or unique scenes to capture. The Space Coast offers plenty of great spots for birdwatching, which makes it even more enjoyable.

I’m also a big fan of trying new foods, so I plan little adventures for my husband and me. We explore Florida’s natural beauty and discover amazing restaurants along the way. And when the weather cooperates, we love grilling out by the pool and soaking up the beautiful Florida sunshine.

What advice would you give to someone that’s new to your field and why?

First, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and meet people. Building connections is a big part of what we do—letting others know you’re a real estate photographer and showcasing your work is key.

Also, focus on developing skills that will help you stand out and secure more bookings, like learning how to shoot drone footage (something I’m working on myself!). And one more tip—always carry a door stopper for those perfect front-door shots. It’s a small detail, but it can make a big difference!

What do you feel is the most important quality for someone in your field and why?

Fearlessness. It’s about having the courage to put yourself out there, trust in your abilities, and constantly push yourself to grow. It means embracing new challenges, learning new skills, and believing in yourself every step of the way.
