Real Estate Photographer Spotlight: Heather Leider

This week under the WindowStill Spotlight, we have Heather Leider!

Heather is one of our awesome real estate photographers from the Dallas and Fort Worth, TX area. She told us about her hobbies and the advice that she’d give to a new photographer.

Here’s what this Texas photographer had to say…

What is your role at WindowStill and what does a day of work typically look like for you?

I am a photographer at WindowStill.

My typical day actually starts the day before! I prepare all the gear I’ll need for my jobs the next day, charge all the batteries, and clear off all the memory cards. The day of, I wake up before the sun to get the kiddo to school and to get where I need to go on time.

I make my tea, grab some breakfast snacks, throw my gear in the car, and we get going. Once I get home from shooting, I sort through the images and get them sent where they need to go, respond to emails, and plan out the next day. Every day is different but I try to keep my mornings pretty routine. It keeps life interesting.

What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?

I enjoy landscape photography for fun! There’s something very peaceful about it. I also love to read and relax at the end of the day with Netflix.

What advice would you give to someone that’s new to your field and why?

Practice, practice, practice! The more you do, the better you’ll get. Quality is everything and you only get to the high-end level of quality with a ton of practice.

What do you feel is the most important quality for someone in your field and why?

This field requires you to be a self-starter, to be motivated, and to never stop learning. I know from experience that you get out of it what you put into it.
