Here’s what you missed from Shae Spitz…
Shae’s journey into real estate was anything but conventional. She didn’t grow up in a family steeped in the industry, nor did she originally envision herself as a real estate professional. Instead, her path began in human services, where she worked as a case manager for mentally ill adults and spent over five years in counseling. However, a chance encounter with an HGTV show and a free three-hour conference in Omaha sparked an unexpected passion that would change her life.
The conference led Shae to invest in a paid program, a decision that required her to take out credit cards to finance the cost. Reflecting on the moment, she admits, “That was a lot of money… most people probably would never have taken that leap of faith.” Despite the financial risk, she dove into her first year, flipping two properties—a challenging but transformative experience. “It was gut-wrenching… but I don’t regret it,” she shares. Over two years, Shae flipped eight homes, eventually deciding to obtain her real estate license to manage transactions and save on costs.
Shae’s journey wasn’t without its emotional hurdles. Friends and family were skeptical of her choices. “People thought we were crazy… but that was ammunition for us,” she recalls. Her unwavering faith and belief in taking the next step, even without seeing the entire path, became her guiding principles. “You’re not going to see the whole staircase, but you have to take that next step,” she emphasizes. The challenges she faced led to profound personal growth and a strengthened resolve.
After earning her license, Shae shifted focus to real estate sales. Managing her own deals and properties, she honed her ability to build strong client relationships. “I had to really step outside my comfort zone,” she admits. She began generating leads by reaching out to contractors, knocking on doors, and leaving business cards with potential clients. Her success came down to persistence. “It’s all in the follow-up,” she notes, emphasizing that client relationships don’t end with the transaction.
Shae developed strategies to maintain lasting connections with her clients. Through follow-up plans and engagement campaigns, she ensured her clients felt valued long after closing. From sending postcards and newsletters to hosting annual appreciation events, she created a sense of community among her clientele. Gestures like delivering brownies on the one-year mark of a purchase further reinforced her commitment to client satisfaction.
For first-time buyers, Shae stresses the importance of education and partnering with a knowledgeable agent. “Get educated, find an agent who really knows their stuff,” she advises. She encourages buyers to explore different loan options creatively, recognizing that financing can often be the key to homeownership. For sellers, patience and preparation are critical in today’s market. “Staging and decluttering are crucial,” she explains, suggesting simple improvements like fresh paint and carpet cleaning to make the best first impression.
Not every transaction is smooth, and Shae recalls one particularly challenging deal involving easement issues. The process was fraught with complications, but she emphasizes the importance of staying on good terms with clients. “Most of the time, as an agent, you end up being the bad person,” she reflects, highlighting the value of owning one’s mistakes and maintaining professionalism even in difficult situations.
Shae credits her morning routine and gratitude practices for helping her navigate the demands of real estate. Journaling and expressing gratitude keep her mindset positive, even during stressful times. “Negativity, depression, or anxiety cannot live in the same moment as gratitude,” she shares. Beyond real estate, Shae focuses on building community, particularly for mom entrepreneurs. Her podcast, aimed at supporting women, allows her to share stories and inspire others navigating similar challenges.
Shae’s current focus includes rebranding and tackling a workforce housing development project. She acknowledges the emotional and financial toll of such endeavors but believes in the value they bring to the community. “This is the ultimate way you can give back,” she says, highlighting her desire to make housing more accessible and affordable. Through strategic goal-setting and collaborative marketing efforts, Shae continues to expand her impact, always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally.
Shae’s journey is a testament to resilience, faith, and the power of connection. Her story inspires others to take bold steps toward their goals, even when the path is uncertain.
