WindowStill Spotlight: Brooke Stevenson
Under the WindowStill Spotlight this week, we have Brooke Stevenson!
Brooke is one of our photographers from Eaton Rapids, MI. Check out what she had to say!
What is your role at WindowStill? What does a typical day at work look like for you?
I take drone, interior, and exterior photos at WindowStill.
In addition to photography, I create floor plans, Zillow tours, Matterport 3D tours, and take room measurements. Basically, I do everything but video!
My day starts with getting my kids up and ready for remote learning at their daycare, then I head off to wherever I’m needed for a shoot. Even if I don’t have one scheduled, I keep my equipment with me pretty much all the time. You never know when a backup photographer will be needed at the last minute!
How did you find WindowStill?
I’ve known about WindowStill for a few years now since the main office is in the town I grew up in, Eaton Rapids.
I was browsing through Facebook one day when I came across a job posting for a photographer. I reached out and talked to Brad. Within a day, I was part of the WindowStill team!
When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your free time?
Because of the shutdowns and craziness that 2020 has brought, my daughters are essentially glued to my side.
When we’re home, we spend a lot of time on schoolwork, watching movies, walking, biking, or playing with our pets. When my husband and I spend time without the girls, we enjoy going golfing together.
What advice would you give to an aspiring photographer?
Take photos of the things you love. If you’re passionate about what you’re photographing, it makes the job much more enjoyable and it will show in your photos.
Also, don’t second guess yourself!
What do you feel is the most important quality in a photographer?
Being able to appreciate the beauty in the people or objects that you’re shooting is an essential quality as a photographer. Every artist has a different eye so base your subject around what intrigues you.
