WindowStill Spotlight: Nick Wisniewski
This week under the WindowStlll Spotlight, we have Nick Wisniewski!
Nick is a team leader, photographer, and videographer, located in Fenton, MI. Here’s what he had to say…
What is your role at WindowStill? What does a typical day at work look like for you?
At WindowStill, I’m a team leader, photographer, and videographer.
I start my workday by looking over the schedule to figure out my appointments for the day and which equipment I’ll need for each appointment. Then, I leave for the day to take care of the appointments!
I’ll usually stop while I’m out between appointments at one of my favorite restaurants, Panera or Tropical Smoothie. Once my appointments are done for the day, I’ll head home to upload my media for the day.
How did you find WindowStill?
My cousin, Clint, is actually a mechanic where Brad used to fly!
One day Brad asked Clint if he happened to know of any photographers looking for work. Clint relayed this message to me, and well, the rest is history!
What do you like to do in your free time when you’re not working?
Right now, a LOT of my free time is being spent renovating my house. My wife and I moved into a 1930’s farmhouse in August, and right now, we have the main floor completely gutted.
I also spend a lot of time serving at my church, where my wife also works. When I’m not renovating or serving at the church, I love to fish, hunt, and play board games with my friends and family!
What advice would you give to an aspiring photographer/videographer?
I would tell an aspiring photographer or videographer to just create as much as you can. The more time you spend creating, the more you’ll learn along the way.
It’s okay to fail sometimes and feel insecure, as that’s part of growth. Everyone feels this way sometimes! Don’t let the insecurity or failures stop you from creating and getting better at your craft. Also, never settle, challenge yourself daily!
What do you feel is the most important quality of a photographer/videographer?
Being a storyteller is a huge one. Since photos and videos tell stories, it’s our job to portray them well.
Figure out what the most important aspect of your story is and focus on it with your photos or video.
